About Johan Uys
Johan has over 15 years of experience in a variety of clinical settings and international education.
I graduated from the University of the Western Cape in 2005 with a Bachelors degree in Physiotherapy with Honours. In 2006 I completed the postgraduate Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT 1) certification through the Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy Group of the South African Society of Physiotherapy.
Under the mentorship of Geoff Foat, I've furthered my education in the Mulligan Concept and in 2014 achieved international accreditation as a Certified Mulligan Practitioner – the first in South Africa.
I have experience in a variety of orthopaedic outpatient and hospital settings and have worked throughout South Africa since qualifying and completing my Community Service in Bethlehem in 2006.
An avid sports enthusiast, I enjoy running, cycling and horse riding. My passion for sport extends to working at various sporting events, including the Cape Town Cycle Tour, which I've also completed several times, the Comrades Marathon and most recently the Two Oceans Marathon. I have a unique interest in Animal Physiotherapy, specifically in Equine Physiotherapy.
In 2016 my family and I relocated to Stilbaai to start my own Physiotherapy practice.
“As his colleague and friend, I must also add that Johan has achieved all this and more as a visually challenged person. The clinical perspective he brings is invaluable and he is a remarkable asset to have on board.” – Geoff Foat on my involvement at POINTPHYSIO Cape Town.
